brennan anderson
Pastor of family ministries

Brennan is very excited about the opportunity to serve in family ministry at Calvary.

“I see a budding generation that is ripe for harvest and deeply believe I have been called to invest whatever the Lord gives me into this generation for His glory. These young people are the future of our church and the future warriors of Christ who will shine bright His light in our ever darkening world. I see this role as nothing short of the responsibility of equipping parents and helping them to raise up spiritual warriors from the day of their birth into adulthood.  I’m so excited to be entrusted with training as many as the sovereign Lord ordains me, to stand behind our Savior as he burns the enemy’s kingdom down. (Ephesians 6:10-18, Revelation 20:7-15)”

Alyssa LaRocque

Alyssa grew up in Windsor, with a stop in Toronto when she married her husband Luke. She moved to Muskoka in 2015 to serve as the Program Director at Beacon Bible Camp and has been attending Calvary since then. She is classically trained in piano and self-taught on the guitar, and has led music at churches, conferences, camps, and weddings for many years. As the worship leader at Calvary, she is committed to using relevant, encouraging lyrics and melodies to help the church worship God together. When not helping with music, Alyssa can be found creating new programs for camp, taking nature walks with her daughter and son in search of all kinds of interesting flora and fauna, going on runs around town, and drinking dark roast coffee.

Jeanette Leach
Administrative Assistant

Jeanette grew up in Toronto, but spent the summers at her family's cottage just south of Gravenhurst, so the town has always been a second home to her, and Calvary was her church home when she was here. She moved to Gravenhurst permanently in 1992, met and married her husband at Calvary, and jumped right into serving at the church, working in Christian Education, Missions, Small Groups and Music Ministries over the years. Now, as Administrative Assistant, she is pleased to give support to the various ministries at Calvary. When she isn't working at the church, you can find her at the cottage, giving support to her husband by sanding his soapstone carvings!

ROLES AT CALVARY:
- Ensure that the congregation stays informed about current and upcoming events through emails, phone calls, the Sunday bulletin and the website.
- Prepare and distribute the weekly Prayer Update

Don was born and raised in Toronto but moved out in the 80's. He and his wife moved to Gravenhurst in 2014, and they started to attend Calvary Gravenhurst in 2015. COVID helped him to make the decision to retire in 2020, and the Lord opened a door for him to be the Custodian at Calvary, where he appreciates the wonderful team he is working with. When he isn’t working at the church, he enjoys hiking or sitting in his canoe, fishing.

ELDERS

Calvary Gravenhurst believes and practices elder-led leadership. This means that the men who serve as elders at Calvary are responsible for the primary leadership and oversight of our church. As part of our plan, the lead pastor of our church serves as an elder in addition to his role as pastor. The elders teach, preach, pray and serve the people of our church in a variety of other ways. For more about how Calvary views eldership, read this article from the Desiring God website.

Deacons

The role of deacon at Calvary is filled by men and women who see themselves as servants who help to facilitate ministry through practical and logistical support. Each deacon at Calvary serves in a specific role, as outlined below. This allows the elders and staff at the church to focus on ministry-related service. For more details about how the role of deacon is viewed at our church, read this article from the 9 Marks website.
