Stone by Stone

A Fundraising Event for Paradise orphanage

Calvary has supported Paradise Orphanage in Burkina Faso since 2009 when Len and Carla Veitch visited there and became involved with fundraising and encouraging a local Burkinabe family who had a heart for the orphans in their area but had no umbrella organization to support them. Years of friendship and support later, the orphanage continues to thrive and the ministry of the Sawadogo family now extends to ministering to the refugees pouring into Kaya, the closest town, due to extreme instability in the country and terrorist activities.

An amazing way to foster this connection between our church and the work in Burkina Faso is to go back to its roots. This is where “Stone by Stone” comes in. A team of three producers/filmmakers decided to tell the story of Paradise Orphanage, capturing footage and sharing stories of the vision and mission of those involved.

On November 10th, Calvary will host a fundraiser in continuing support of Paradise. It will start with a basic rice and beans meal in honour of the basic sustenance of our Burkinabe brothers and sisters. The meal will be followed by a showing of the documentary “Stone by Stone”, and followed by a Q&A session with the makers of the film, one of whom will be with us in person.

The event will be pay-what-you-can, with all proceeds going directly to Charles Sawadogo in Burkina Faso via Len and Carla Veitch, We can accept cash or cheque but please note that all cheques should be made out to Carla Veitch, NOT Calvary Baptist Church, due to Canadian government regulations for organizations with no official charity number.

Register for the event to help us know how much food to prepare! Invite a friend to join you!
